The W1 is designed to clamp to the wall angle on drop ceiling jobs, or can be used to lay a laser down into the vertical mode. In vertical mode, the W1 can be set on the floor, or threaded onto a tripod. (The L3, L5, L6, L4.7 and L4.7 Magnum lasers can all be used in the vertical mode.)  Note: the L6 laser does not require a vertical mount when used on a flat surface.
